Don't Quit

If I had known in advance the life changes that were in store for me, I would have waited until I was more prepared. Talk about a roller coaster ride! In the process of making my website become a reality I actually lost my home, my car, my job and just about everything I had ever owned. I have suffered through four so called( I would like to call them something else) "business partners" and employed the services of three internet companies. My last website change (there were many) was finally made by a good hearted freelance webmaster.
I started my website all because of one crying lady!

I use to be a counselor at a very popular weight loss clinic back in the 1980's. One night as I was finishing up and getting ready to go home, I overheard a woman's loud voice in the front lobby of the center. She was all out of breath and sounded very upset. She was talking to my manager about how she had to fly back to Chicago because of a death in the family. She had done well on the centers diet and had purchased ALOT of their foods. An ideal client to say the least. She wanted the manager to tell her what foods she could pick up at the supermarket that were similar to the foods on her meal plans BECAUSE she couldn't afford the plane ticket home AND buy more of the centers foods. She was afraid she would gain her weight back. To make this story short, the woman was told to come back into the center whenever she arrived back into town and not to worry about the foods right now. The woman (now crying) and obviously getting no help from a very uncaring manager stormed out of the center.

That was the night my life would change forever.

I thought for days about the way the woman was treated and it really bothered me. I felt sorry for her and I was mad. Why wouldn't the manager just SUGGEST some foods for pete sake?  I later found out that the manager really didn't have a clue on what to tell the woman she could eat. I decided to leave the center and put together a diet program that the average person could afford and a program that no one else was offering. I was a mother of two young children at the time and the decision to stay home and raise them made my decision to leave the center that much easier. I stayed up usually until the early hours of the morning writing out my program. Luckily, I have never required much sleep and a short nap during the day usually got me through. It took several months to complete.
I knew NO ONE offered the type of program I had written so I applied for a copyright. To my horror the copyright office DENIED my application. Now, I was really ticked. I decided to CHALLENGE the copyright office on there denial and I WON. I received copyright protection in 1989.

I didn't know how I would sell my program so I hired a literary agent and he proceeded to send my manuscript out to different publishers and each time it would come back with a " We are sorry" letter. I was also married to a man that thought I was a nutcase and never in the 18 years of marriage  would he support me for ANYTHING. He certainly made life difficult to say the least. Oh well--to each their own-lol. I actually had to put my program on a closet shelf and there it sat for TEN YEARS until I was divorced. I didn't know it back then but this was the making of both a dream and a nightmare!

When I pulled the diet plan out of my closet 2 years ago(after my divorce) I was bound and determined that I would put it up on the internet. At that time I had never worked on a computer and didn't even know how to turn the"monster" on. At first, I just sat and stared at it. Dummies 101 was even hard for me.
I must say the road was long and the work load incredible. A higher power above was watching over me and I have learned that the many mistakes I made along the way were a necessary part of my life.

Now after being scammed, spammed, cheated on and lied to, I have accomplished in part( I now want to expand my website) what I had set out to do. I have MY website and MY program. My dream has now become a reality!!
There is a higher power above and HE is the one that pulled me through!

In closing, I just want to say that for all of you out there that dare to have a dream whatever it may be, you must say to yourselves each day these four things. I Am! I Can! I Will! I Believe!

Most important DON'T QUIT!  Never give up your dream because SOMEONE ELSE SAYS it won't work.  If there is a way, believe me, you WILL find it. Look to God and ask for his help and be patient. He will provide you with what you need when the time is right.
